Stainless steel or
metal braces are the most popular type of braces.
The two core components of metal braces are brackets
(pieces of specially shaped metal) and the main arch
wire. Brackets get placed on your teeth and the arch
wire is laced through the brackets, connecting them
together.
Here’s how it works:
The arch wire is specially bent to reflect the way
we want your teeth to look when your braces are
removed. The wire will attempt to return to its
original shape, placing pressure on one side of the
arch wire, and then the bone on the other side gives
way, and the teeth are moved. Ask our staff about
different color bands you can wear too! From school
colors to patriotic colors, you could have a
different look each visit. |
Clear Braces
Recent
improvement in traditional braces have resulted in
stronger, more efficient and less conspicuous
brackets. The implementation of self-ligating braces
in our office has reduced the number of appointments
as well as the length of treatment. While metal
brackets are the most familiar, clear ceramic
brackets are now available. Their clear color
gives these brackets a less noticeable look while
maintaining the quality and efficiency of the metal
brackets. The image above shows both types of
braces.
